Nice lemurs in the Zoo of Lignano Riviera

The Zoo Punta Verde in Lignano Riviera celebrated this summer a large number of births that fill with joy and satisfaction all the operators of the park.

Last Sunday was hanging a blue announcement ribbon for Agostino, the baby hippopotamus that already weighed 30 kg at birth. After 8 months of gestation, mother Tina shows us her baby and lucky visitors may even seen the moment of breastfeeding, with the small Agostino who plunges underwater and sucks the milk without problems.

Not only the baby hippopotamus is the star of the Zoo of Lignano: few weeks ago are born three puma cubs. At the time is not yet known the sex of these puppies, but they are all very good. It is not so easy to see them, because the mother protects them through the vegetation and the puma cubs have a spotted coat to ensure a good camouflage! But with a little bit patience, visitors can see very intense looks through the bushes of the most quiet areas of their section.

In addition to these recent births, the Zoo of Lignano Riviera celebrated other 15 births from the beginning of the summer season. Among the most exciting, the birth of an eared seal and especially of a ring-tailed lemur, the cute primate of the famous cartoon “Madagascar” (King Julien). Lemurs are indeed animals at risk of extinction due to increasing destruction of their natural habitat and this birth has made particular happy the operators in the park. To raise people awareness of this species, the zoo organizes for some years close encounters with lemurs. Accompanied by a teacher and after having learned a lot of information about Madagascar and the life of lemurs, small group of people, both children and adults, can enter in the section of these animals. It is a very exciting visit especially for children, who can look closely and pet these cute animals.

Tourist on holiday in Lignano can expand their knowledge about nature in a very amusing way, in a beautiful environment like in the park, located on a bend of the river Tagliamento in Lignano Riviera, and also contribute to various projects of conservation and research of different animal species, such as the ring-tailed lemurs, with a small donation.

The Zoo works with other Italian and foreign zoos, with university departments and associations with regard to research and conservation of endangered species, proposing campaigns inside the park for the conservation of threatened animal species and natural environments.

At the Beach Arena, between the beach offices 6 and 7 of Lignano Sabbiadoro few steps from the Hotel Nettuno, feverish preparations are under way for three concerts that will draw the audience of the special events.

The first to break the ice and to charm everyone with his voice is Nek Friday, July 30th. The Beach Arena is one of the stages of his international tour of over 20 dates. The Summer Tour 2010 of Nek will reach Italy, Canada, Spain and Belgium. This unmissable event advances the live-set by Bob Sinclar, the other name of dance music who returns for the second time on the beach of Lignano, August 13th always in Kursaal. Should not forget the Festival Show in Arena Alpe Adria August 7th with the names of famous Italian pop singers.

A week end rich in events for Lignano in Fiore

The week end of the 1^st May will be the last opportunity to visit the beautiful event of Lignano in Fiore at Hemingway Park in Lignano Pineta.

Thanks to the good weather, the festival welcomed a lot of visitors who watched several shows, were engaged in workshops and meetings, bought flowers and plants, which proceeds will go to the charity, and tasted very good dishes cooked with devotion by the volunteers. In addition a lot of visitors take advantage of the festival and of the good weather to go for a picnic with the family and friends or to go for a walk with the dog in the green Hemingway Park.

During these two week ends also the hotels in Lignano Sabbiadoro welcomed a lot of tourists, who spent the first days of holiday taking advantage also of the early opening of the beach the 25^th of April. Christmas with all its feasts is drawing near and also the city of Lignano Sabbiadoro is preparing to receive it in the best way, with lighting, decorations and events in different places of the seaside resort.

From Saturday, November 28th, the city of Lignano turned on the Christmas decorations along the main streets of the seaside resort, while in front of the entrance’s fountain stands out a beautiful and bright blue-violet Christmas tree.

Despite throughout the winter most of shops and hotels in Lignano are closed, the Friulian beach undertakes every year to offer a good image of itself also during the Christmas period. For this reason the care of lighting, of decorations with Christmas trees in the centre of each crossing and the participation of the local community in events and shows, draws also some tourists, who like to spend Saturday or Sunday in the city.

The lighting, together with the Christmas trees and the colourful decorations of the dealers, runs across the entire pedestrian zone of Lignano Sabbiadoro, from Viale Venezia until Via Udine, and it makes an attractive web of blue little stars in Piazza Fontana, the city centre. Like small waterfalls they illuminate the centre of the seaside resort, which is an important meeting point also during the winter time.

From Monday, the 19th, to Sunday, October the 25th, Lignano Sabbiadoro hosts for the eight year the Student Sport Games of the high school. About 200 students will enter in this national event and it must add managers, teachers, judges and referees for an estimated total of more than 3000 people.

Students born in 1993, 1994 and 1995 will meet in different individual and team sports: handball, volleyball, swimming, gymnastic, acrobatic gymnastic, ping pong, badminton and athletics. To make all competitions in one week, it will be used the sports facilities of Lignano Sabbiadoro and neighbouring towns as San Vito al Tagliamento, Latisana, Udine and Campoformido.

Particularly exciting will be the competitions of athletics at the municipal stadium Teghil in Lignano Sabbiadoro, where young athletes will compete on the same tracks used by the great Jamaican champions like Shelly-Ann Fraser and Asafa Powell.

On that track, considered a reference point for international competitions and training camps of several teams, and in the new indoor swimming pool will be held also the competitions for disabled athletes.

The start to the Student Sport Games 2009 will be given by the opening ceremony on Tuesday, October the 20th at 6 p.m., where could be present also the chairman of CONI and the minister for education, while the last prize giving of Saturday 24th will close the event.

During the week, athletes will not be engaged only in their competitions, but also, in the free time, in a project of road safety inside the other event of Lignano “Ruotamania”. On this occasion students will have the chance to learn very important information about the safe driving, becoming in this way special promoters of this road safety campaign.

Thanks to this events, Lignano proves itself as a sport stronghold, suitable for different sports during all year round in its modern sporting facilities.

Don’t forget that these Student Sport Games are one more organizational test for the European Master Games, that will involve the beach, the sporting facilities and the hotels of Lignano Sabbiadoro and neighbouring towns with athletes coming from all Europe in September 2011.

The 50th years of Lignano Sabbiadoro city

Thursday, September the 10th, are all invited to the celebration of the “Fiftieth Anniversary of the City of Lignano Sabbiadoro 1959-2009”.The celebration will begin at 7.00 p.m. in Piazza Fontana in Lignano Sabbiadoro. During the authorities’ opening speech, will be unveil a monument to celebrate the first 50 years of the city’s establishment.

Lignano gets the administrative autonomy from Latisana city some years after its foundation, happened at the beginning of the twentieth century, and during a period of very quick development, in which the seaside resort becomes one of the most important Italian beaches.

So Lignano Sabbiadoro celebrated in 2003 its first 100 years of seaside resort and tourist life, and this year it celebrates its first 50 years of the city’s establishment.

Celebrations are already begun in July, the 21st, the autonomy day of Lignano, with a very special solemn ceremony: a town council with all alive mayors of Lignano Sabbiadoro. The end of the ceremony was in Arena Alpe Adria with a toast.

The city council takes advantage of this anniversary to offer another party to Lignano Sabbiadoro, its inhabitants and its many tourists, that, thanks to the good weather, crowd the golden beach. Thursday evening, after the opening speech, the party will continue with the music: first the musical “Tuttotranneilliscio” (“Everything except ballroom dance”) and then the DJ-set. And if you are thirsty or hungry, two wine and food stands will offer free skewered meat and various drinks.

A great party both to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Lignano Sabbiadoro city establishment, and to say good-bye to the summer season, even if it is still warm enough to go to the sea. Le Frecce Tricolori in Lignano Sabbiadoro

Sunday, August the 9th, come the Frecce Tricolori on the beach of Lignano Sabbiadoro to enchant all tourists with their breathtaking acrobatic feats.

The Air Show is a very important meeting in Lignano, which sky was chosen from the Italian aerobatic demonstration team as test airfield during the spring.

As for several years, the show will involve not only the 10 pilots of the team, but also other air planes that will show both acrobatic feats and their usefulness in civil and military field. The first to perform Sunday at 2 pm will be the rescue helicopters with a play-acting of a salvage at sea, then the big Canadairs used for fire extinguishing and some ultralights both individually and in formation.

The highlight will be at 6 pm with the arrival of the Frecce Tricolori and their incredible show between sea and sky. The 10 best pilots of the Italian Air Force specialized in team’s acrobatic exercises, will perform their unique acrobatic feats. Really the  acrobatic demonstration team is the only team that shows simultaneously 9 air planes flying in formation over the soloist. The Frecce Tricolori will present the famous aerial choreographies including Apollo 13, Arizona, Pierced Heart, the fascinating Bomb and the breathtaking Bomb’s Crossing.

The end of Air Show is scheduled for 7 pm, when the Frecce Tricolori will say good-bye to the beach and the tourists in holiday in Lignano with a beautiful 5 km long Italian flag, an unforgettable ending.

The best place on the beach to better watch the show is the area near Terrazza a Mare in Sabbiadoro, only few meter from the Hotel Nettuno. The Beach Village of Lignano Sabbiadoro will be the first stage of 105 On The Beach, the sparkling summer tour of Radio 105.

From July 28th to August 3rd the large company of Radio 105 with the super cast of DJs will change the Beach Village on Lungomare Trieste, in 105 Village, the operations room from that the radio will broadcast its programmes from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. During this time slot will be present also the 105 Zoo, the most famous programme of the radio, with the entire cast ready to entertain tourists with unexpected incursions under the beach umbrellas and a lot of laughs.

A lot of fun and a lot of very good music together with games, fashion shows and gadgets are the ingredients of 105 On The Beach.

From Wednesday until Sunday a rich animation programme waits for all tourists, but the highlight is the evening, with different shows: Wednesday open-air cinema on the beach, Thursday the funny disco beach, Friday and Saturday two free concerts of Italian singers in the Beach Arena of Lignano Sabbiadoro.

The 105 truck waits for all tourist at the Beach Village, few walk steps from the beautiful Terrazza a Mare and from the Hotel Nettuno.
